Both ZDFzeit documentaries by Thomas Lischak are in the ZDFmediathek from the day of the broadcast, 10 a.m, available for two years.
The Mondelēz company is a giant in the food industry and yet hardly known to customers. It bundles extremely popular brands that almost everyone has already put in their shopping cart. Three of them are Milka, Oreo and, Philadelphia. The documentary tells the interesting history of the company, from the spin-off from the American parent company to the miracle of returns for European food producers. Sebastian Lege also takes a look at some of Mondelēz’s most popular products. He explains the tricks the manufacturer uses – mostly to save money in production and drive sales to new heights.
In addition to detergents and soaps, Unilever also produces food. According to its own statements, the group is the world’s largest ice cream manufacturer. How good are foods like Pfanni, Knorr and Langnese from Unilever? Sebastian Lege examines numerous products and recreates them in his workshop. He shows how Unilever produces its food and reveals where good ingredients have been replaced by cheap ones. This is how Knorr products exploit a legal loophole: Because it is not specified how much meat must be in a beef broth, many products only contain a very small amount.
