China Media Group (CMG) held the 2022 Spring Festival Gala on Monday night as Chinese around the world celebrated the start of the Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival.
It is the most important Chinese festival where family reunions take center stage. The five-hour television spectacle has been a symbolic part of the celebrations since it first aired in 1983.
This year’s gala featured a variety of performances to entertain millions of Chinese families and herald the Year of the Tiger, which symbolizes bravery, power and strength in traditional Chinese culture.
The performances revolved around various themes, including the centenary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), rural revitalization, ecological civilization, the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, China’s achievements in space, and major archaeological discoveries.
One of the most spectacular performances was the poetic dance entitled “Journey on a Painted Landscape”. The dance was inspired by the 900-year-old Chinese masterpiece “Panorama of Rivers and Mountains” by Song Dynasty (960-1279) painter Wang Ximeng. inspired. The elegant dance, together with the atmospheric scenic design, showed the traditional Chinese art and cultural charm.
With the Beijing Winter Olympics just days away, elements of the Games have been highlighted. Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon, the games mascots, explored the splendor of the venues in the classic skating waltz song.
At the same time, high-tech has taken the audiovisual experience to a new level. A giant 720-degree curved LED screen was installed to connect the stage with the auditorium, creating a highly expandable three-dimensional space. Augmented reality, augmented reality, holographic scanning and 8K naked eye 3D rendering technology have been employed to create an even more immersive viewing experience. Also, for the first time, the gala was streamed live with the option of a vertical view to accommodate the viewing habits of more people on mobile devices.
The gala was broadcast on multiple TV channels, radio stations and new media platforms. Around 600 foreign media from more than 170 countries and regions also reported live on the gala, according to CMG.
