On Tuesday afternoon, the 44-year-old posted his decision on his social media channels. “My playing career has been an exciting journey, far beyond my imagination, full of ups and downs,” he wrote. “But now the time has come to focus my time and energy on other things.”
The decision to end his career after 22 years and seven Super Bowl victories was preceded by days of uncertainty. On Saturday (01/29/2022) “ESPN” reported, citing anonymous sources, that the decision had been made and the quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would end his career.
Numerous colleagues, the NFL itself and even one of his companies then congratulated him on his outstanding career with seven Super Bowl victories. “I tried to have a nice weekend but it didn’t quite work out, my phone was pretty busy,” he said.
Brady has been in the NFL for 22 years
Brady left the New England Patriots in 2020 after 19 years and a title dynasty. He continued his career in Florida, where he won another Super Bowl with the Buccaneers and old pal Rob Gronkowski. In this year’s playoffs, the Bucs lost 27:30 to the Los Angeles Rams after a thrilling comeback from 3:27 to 27:27 in the divisional round.
