Regarding today’s decision of the Bavarian cabinet for a further corona-related compensation of investment costs until June 30, 2022, the state chairman of the Federal Association of Private Providers of Social Services, Kai A. Kasri, says:

“This is an important decision by the state government, which strengthens nursing care in Bavaria and gives the nursing facilities security.

We are still in the midst of the pandemic and care facilities are still working at the limit. Corona-related absences will also be unavoidable in the coming months. Anyone who wants to receive vital nursing care must cushion these special burdens until the pandemic really comes to an end.

With today’s cabinet decision, Bavaria is leading the way in supporting care facilities. The federal government must now follow suit and also extend the care rescue package beyond March.”

With more than 12,000 active member institutions (over 1,500 of them in Bavaria), the Federal Association of Private Providers of Social Services (bpa) is the largest lobby of private providers of social services in Germany. Facilities for outpatient and (partly) inpatient care, assistance for the disabled and child and youth welfare in private sponsorship are a systemically relevant part of services of general interest. As a good example of public-private partnership, the members of the bpa are responsible for around 365,000 jobs and around 27,000 apprenticeships (see www.youngpropflege.de or www.facebook.com/Youngpropflege). Investments in social infrastructure amount to around 29 billion euros.
