Young Neve is dead and wakes up in a lake. She soon finds out she was murdered and tries to find the culprit: The Sky Original’The Rising” can be seen from March 11th on Fridays from 8.15 p.m. in double episodes exclusively on Sky Atlantic. The complete season will be available on demand from March 11th on the Sky Ticket streaming service and via Sky Q a remake of the Belgian series “Room 108” and is celebrating its premiere at the Berlinale this year.
About “The Rising”:
After a party, Neve Kelly (Clara Rugaard) emerges from a lake. Confused, she makes her way home. Meanwhile, friends and family are already looking for her. Startled, Neve realizes that no one can see her and discovers that she is dead, apparently murdered. Angry and determined, she goes in search of the culprit. In the process, she uncovers deeply buried secrets and is forced to reconsider everything about her life and the people she cared about. Knowing he has nothing to lose but time, Neve pushes for the truth – no matter how painful it may be. She is supported by her father Tom (Matthew McNulty) and the mysterious Katie (Robin Cara), who can see Neve. Her return forces everyone around her to change, confess, or cover their tracks. But she also reveals that there are others like Neve out there…
It stars some up-and-coming young stars, most notably Clara Rugaard (“I Am Mother”) as protagonist Neve, Nenda Neururer (“A Brief History of Struggle”) as the irreverent Alex Wyatt, and Solly McLeod (“Boxing Day”) as Joseph Wyatt, Alex’s cousin and Neve’s longtime friend. Other roles include Emily Taaffe (“Rare Beasts”) as Neves’ mother Maria, Alex Lanipekun (“Spooks”) as her second husband Daniel, Robyn Cara (“Ackley Bridge”) as Katie and Matthew McNulty (“Versaille”) as Neves to see alcoholic father Tom. Ed Lilly and Thora Hilmarsdottir are directing.
The Rising is the second series to be produced entirely in-house at Sky, following The Third Day. NBCUniversal Global Distribution handles international distribution on behalf of Sky Studios.
