FH St. Pölten gründet Entrepreneurship and Innovation Network for Smart and Sustainable European Regions (E.I.N.S.) mit

The European University E³UDRES², coordinated by the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, has launched the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Network for Smart and Sustainable European Regions (EINS) together with the University Industry Interaction Network (UIIN).

In order to overcome the challenges of the climate crisis with sustainable solutions and to make the best possible use of the opportunities of digital change, the European innovation area is to be expanded and further developed. Universities should play a more important role in this and cooperate closely with business, administration and interested citizens.

Results from teaching and research should contribute to new marketable products and services through company foundations and other forms of knowledge transfer. The EU has launched a new initiative funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) to expand the innovation capacities of universities. With EINS, the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences is leading one of the 24 pilot projects that were selected in the first pilot call in 2021.

Use regional strengths and network across Europe

While global innovation capacities are concentrated in a few urban centers and large universities compete in research-oriented global rankings, EINS aims to further develop “Smart & Sustainable European Regions”.

To this end, it bundles the strengths of the internationally successful University Industry Interaction Network (UIIN) with the European University E³UDRES², in which six comparatively small but agile universities with strong regional roots work together.

“A large part of the European population lives in small and medium-sized towns and rural areas. These regions not only contribute to the high quality of life and cultural identity of Europe, but are also locations for those small and medium-sized companies that make a significant contribution to European economic performance. All institutions in our alliance contribute to innovations in their regional environment. The Europe-wide exchange of experience brings completely new impulses and increases quality,” explains Hannes Raffaseder, senior coordinator of E³UDRES² and EINS and member of the management of the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences.
