AI empowers security teams, while flexible work arrangements and the “great resignation” inadvertently increase cyber risk

Darktrace, a global leader in AI for cybersecurity, today announced that its Autonomous Response technology is now active at the endpoint, completing the Darktrace Antigena product family, which already powers SaaS applications, cloud, email, network and Operational Technology (OT) covers.

The end devices have moved further and further away from the traditional infrastructure and now house even more sensitive data. As a result, CISOs and security professionals must grapple with the complexities of protecting their organizations and dynamic workforces created by flexible work arrangements and the onset of the Great Resignation.

A novel approach to addressing this challenge could be to augment security teams with AI that learns how these flexible, dynamic workforces work as they work. Irregularities in endpoint activity can be continuously reassessed and subtle, undetectable actions can be taken that allow productive work to continue and only stop threatening activity.

Antigena Endpoint does just that. It detects anomalous activity and intelligently makes micro-decisions based on unusual activity, such as: B. Unusual initial file downloads and data exfiltration attempts, command and control traffic, or lateral movements that could pose a cyber threat. It uses various techniques to interrupt attacks on Mac, Windows, and Linux devices, including data leaks, ransomware, and insider threats.

Contextual awareness gained from other parts of the digital asset is also beneficial in stopping endpoint attacks. In the case of Antigena Email and Antigena Endpoint working together, the accuracy of response is improved through a more granular understanding of new and expected senders across all endpoint and email activity. A brand new sender requesting an employee to initiate a bank transaction of their own accord could warrant action. But with the additional information that the website is unrelated to the organization, the expanded context would solidify the case and change the system’s response.

“Antigena Endpoint is the evolution of the Darktrace platform that I’ve been most anticipating and very excited about. It’s a real game changer and gets to the heart of what our customers need now,” said Mike Beck, Darktrace’s Global Chief Information Security Officer Being able to take action on any employee device is more important than ever.”
