  • ARTE will broadcast the portrait “Who is Boris Johnson?” on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. about the incumbent British Prime Minister.
  • The documentary will be available in the ARTE Mediathek from Saturday, January 22nd.

ARTE will show the documentary on Saturday 29 January at 4.30pm “Who is Boris Johnson?” (by Alice COHEN, ARTE France/Morgane Productions, France 2021, 52 min.) and looks at one of the most popular but also most controversial politicians in Great Britain, who is currently under extreme pressure due to lockdown parties and has to worry about his political career.

For many, he is the slapstick, Trump-affine and protectionist populist. But Boris Johnson is much more. A graduate of Eton and Oxford, he is highly intelligent, liberal and a real EU expert. Behind the mask of a funny clown he hides the acquired elitist snobbery of the British upper class and an ego eaten away by the craving for recognition. How did this man rise from court jester to political king? Is Boris Johnson’s transformation a metaphor for that of the UK as a whole?

On Saturday 29 January at 4.30 p.m as a TV premiere and already from January 22 in the ARTE media library, before on the ARTE press portal.
