On behalf of Meta, the German Press Agency will take over the curating of Facebook News from April 1st. As part of this offer, selected content from German media houses is published on the platform. The newly created team is to be headed by Christian Röwekamp (51), who is currently still responsible for the editorial staff of Germany’s largest news agency. Meta’s contractual partner is the dpa subsidiary dpa-Infocom GmbH.

“We are pleased that we will be able to provide a service for Facebook News in the future, for which the dpa, as a joint venture of the German media, is predestined,” says Peter Kropsch, Chairman of the dpa Management Board. “As an independent news agency owned by the media, we have all the qualities required for this job. Neutrality and an up-to-the-second overview of the global news situation are two of them.”

Under the umbrella of dpa-Infocom, Managing Director Frank Rumpf and Editor-in-Chief Christian Röwekamp are putting together a team of experienced journalists who will only be responsible for curating Facebook News and will not be involved in other editorial processes. The dpa ensures that Facebook News users are provided with up-to-date information from the German media around the clock, every day of the year.
