Thailand expands sandbox program | current tourism



Thailand is expanding the so-called sandbox program to include three more regions. As announced by the tourist office, the regions Krabi, Phang-Nga (Khao Lak) and Surat Thani (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Thao) can now be visited again in addition to Phuket.

New applications for the Thailand Pass are already possible, it says in a message. In addition, travelers whose Thailand Passport has already been approved can enter the conditions applied for without a time limit. New applications for the pass in the Test & Go program, however, remained suspended for the time being.

The sandbox model was suspended in late December

At the end of December, Thailand had again restricted the previously relaxed entry regulations due to the corona. The Test & Go program, which had made entry easier for fully vaccinated and recovered persons, and all sandbox programs had been suspended. Only Phuket remained travelable.

The sandbox model enables fully vaccinated and recovered travelers to explore the entire country after spending seven nights in one of the designated regions.

The journey takes place via Phuket, from there it continues with special SHA + transfers. According to the tourist office in Bangkok, travelers with destination Koh Samui can transfer to “Sealed Flights” with Bangkok Airways.

After two negative PCR tests, you can continue your journey

On-site, travelers must first spend the night in a pre-booked, designated SHA ++ hotel and, in addition to the PCR test, have to take another PCR test in a hospital upon arrival. If the result is negative, you can continue your journey.
