A strong content business, the expansion of streaming, independent journalism and new sales potential through cross-media cooperation within the company – these are the core growth areas of RTL Germany after the merger with Gruner + Jahr. On Wednesday, Co-CEOs Matthias Dang and Stephan Schäfer named the management team with which they want to achieve these goals. The management team reports directly to the management, which includes co-CEOs Alexander Glatz, Oliver Radtke and Julia Reuter until the end of April. After the organizational restructuring that was previously required, the team will start in the course of the second quarter of 2022.

Eva Messerschmidt and Henning Nieslony will be equally responsible for the further expansion of RTL +. You will work closely with Karin Immenroth, who heads the Data division, and Christina Dohmann, who will be responsible for end customer sales; Both areas work beyond streaming for all types of media. With 2.4 million subscribers, RTL + is the leading German streaming service. In the second quarter, RTL + will be expanded to become the first comprehensive media subscription across all categories.

Henning Tewes will be responsible for the TV business in future. He will control the TV business of all channels, with the exception of ntv, and will continue to be responsible for the RTL + program content as co-managing director. He will also be in charge of all content in the entertainment area, the RTL Studios production unit and program purchasing. Last year, the RTL family of channels achieved an audience market share of 26.3 percent among 14 to 59-year-olds and thus once again maintained overall market leadership in private television.

Bernd Hellermann will be responsible for the print and digital business in the future.

Stephan Schmitter will be responsible for all journalistic content from moving images to digital and audio to print as well as the news channel ntv. RTL Germany with Gruner + Jahr is one of the leading journalistic providers in the country. The print magazines are quality and market leaders in numerous segments from women to living to business and news. ntv.de, stern.de and RTL.de are among the digital news offers with the greatest reach. The RTL news programs and magazines are among the most popular information programs on German television. With the head chef, the company has the largest food platform. The rapidly growing podcast offer, which already includes more than 200 originals, will be integrated into the expanded entertainment offer RTL + in the first half of the year. As a corporate unit, RTL Radio Deutschland remains in the responsibility of Stephan Schmitter.

The merger of RTL Deutschland and Gruner + Jahr creates considerable growth potential through the close cooperation of all content areas across genre boundaries. The company is assuming synergies totaling 100 million euros, most of which are growth-driven. In order to exploit this potential and to initiate and lead the cooperation, Mirijam Trunk takes over the management of the newly created area for cross-media projects and partnerships.

As the new managing director of the Ad Alliance, Frank Vogel will be responsible for the entire marketing business together with Matthias Dang.
