The Alliance for Education (BfB) advocates budgeting at least 45 euros per month and teacher in schools in order to equip all teachers with a personal digital service device.

“Those who prepare and convey learning content must be professionally equipped for digital teaching and learning. This is an important building block for digitization in schools,” explains Dr. Christian Büttner, 1st chairman of the BfB.

With this minimum amount, in addition to a fully-fledged professional device, an operating concept could also be financed over the entire life cycle of the device – including the necessary software applications, administration and a regular technology exchange.

From the point of view of the BfB, every full-time teacher, as well as part-time and trainee teachers, should be equipped with a personal, fully-fledged, mobile digital service device. The service devices could then be used for both educational and administrative tasks.

In a position paper, the Alliance for Education has summarized further basic requirements for equipping with professional service equipment – including sustainable and compulsory training and further education of teachers as well as professionalization of schools in the areas of IT support, IT infrastructure and IT training to ensure smooth To guarantee the flow of teaching and learning. Teachers should not take on these tasks “on top”.

In the opinion of the BfB, long-term and needs-based planning also requires permanent and reliable funding from the federal and state governments.
