Riu opens in Senegal, Iberostar in Cuba | current tourism

The corona pandemic has slowed down a lot worldwide, including the new hotel openings. The fact that more resorts want to receive their first guests in 2022 than in 2021 also testifies to the hope and optimism in the industry.

As a general destination, Senegal was only known to die-hard Aldiana fans. But the resort with which Aldiana started its expansion no longer exists since 2007.

Now Riu wants to open the first domicile in Senegal in April. The Riu Baobab has five stars, 500 rooms and aims to delight guests with swim-up suites and a water park. On the east coast of Africa, on Zanzibar, follows the Riu Jambo, which is aimed at families.

New Sentido and Iberostar stores

New at DER Touristik Hotels & Resorts is the Calimera Balansat Resort, a 125-room hotel on the beach in Ibiza. There are new Sentido houses with the Pelagos Suites on Kos, the Paradisio Terme on Ibiza and the Aeqora Lanzarote Suites on Lanzarote, among others.

Iberostar is expanding its portfolio with two resorts, the double hotel Coral Level at Iberostar Selection Esmeralda and the Selection Esmeralda, on the small Cuban island of Cayo Cruz. The Iberostar Cala Domingos is new to Mallorca, the family hotel with 419 rooms was previously known as Riu Tropicana, among others.

In the next issue of touristik aktuell 49-50 / 2021, which will appear next week, you can read which new resorts, among others TUI Blue, TUI Kids Club and H10, will open in the coming year.
