The increasing movement of goods as a result of globalization and the booming online trade is leading to more and more trucks on Germany’s autobahns, and by no means all of them can be found in the existing parking lots. There are around 70,000 parking spaces along German highways. The demand is far from being met. More than 23,000 parking spaces are missing and this has consequences for road safety.

How high is the risk of accidents from parking illegally?

How can the parking problem be solved?

What improvements are possible for drivers?

Is rail freight transport an alternative?

Can a nationwide uniform parking system solve the problem?

What kind of support is needed from politics?

Answers to these and many other questions will be provided at the interactive live talk by ADAC Mittelrhein eV on Wednesday, December 8th (12 noon to 1.30 p.m.):

Prof. Dr. Dirk Engelhardt, General Manager of the Federal Association of Freight Transport, Logistics and Waste Management (BGL)

Daniela grabert, Truck driver at the Schröder Brothers forwarding agency in Ebernhahn

Dr. Klaus Manns, Chairman of the ADAC Mittelrhein eV

Prof. Gerd Riegelhuth, Head of Traffic Management, Operations and Traffic at Autobahn GmbH des Bunde

Johannes Witt, Chairman of the Association of German Autohöfe eV

In addition, presented Ulrich Chiellino, Head of Transport Policy at ADAC eV, possible alternatives and approaches to solving the parking problem.

“Truck drivers must be able to adhere to the legally prescribed driving and rest times. However, at the expense of road safety, parking is often done in areas that are not intended for this purpose. And the solutions to the truck parking problem are still a long way off. There is an urgent need for action here . Accordingly, I am also looking forward to a constructive exchange during the live talk, “says Dr. Klaus Manns, chairman of the ADAC Mittelrhein eV

The audience can ask questions directly to the studio guests before and during the live talk. A short email to [email protected] is sufficient, the questions will be answered live during the broadcast.
