▷ Motor insurance can often be canceled after November 30th

For many drivers, November 30th is the deadline for changing their car insurance. But even after that, it is often possible to change the insurer. Because if the car insurance becomes more expensive, there is a special right of termination.

A special right of termination occurs if the insurer increases the premium without increasing the scope of benefits. Customers can check this in their annual contribution statement. A period of one month applies to the termination. It should be made in writing by registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt. The reason – such as the premium increase – should be clearly stated.

ADAC Autoversicherung advises you to compare not only the price but also the benefits when changing vehicle insurers in order to be well insured in the event of a claim. In addition, drivers should regularly check their information in the insurance contract. If the annual mileage falls, if the number of drivers is reduced and if deductibles are agreed, the insurance premium can in some cases fall significantly.

Drivers can also save if they opt for contracts with a workshop or telematics tariffs. In the case of workshop loyalty – also known as workshop bonus or workshop tariff – the insured person agrees to have comprehensive damage repaired in a partner workshop of the insurer. This makes partial or fully comprehensive insurance up to 20 percent cheaper.

With so-called telematics tariffs, a prudent and foresighted driving style is rewarded. To do this, driving behavior is measured with an app on the smartphone. This can reduce the premium with some insurers by up to 30 percent. Drivers who want to get to know the telematics model can try out the ADAC Auto Insurance “Fahr + Spar” app, easily and free of charge.
