Lidl and “Sallys Foundation” donated a total of 260,000 euros to the children’s aid organization BILD hilft eV “Ein Herz für Kinder” at the ZDF donation gala “Ein Herz für Kinder” in Berlin last Saturday. In doing so, they promote equal opportunities as well as projects in Germany and around the world for children and families in need. “We are very happy to support the valuable work of ‘Ein Herz für Kinder’ together with Lidl. Regardless of the income and wealth of their parents, children and young people must have fair opportunities for the best possible upbringing and education,” says Food-Youtuberin and Lidl- Cooperation partner Saliha Özcan alias Sally and board member of “Sallys Foundation”. “It is very important to us to be able to give something back to the children in particular and to actively contribute to enabling them to have a carefree childhood,” adds Matthias Oppitz, CEO of Lidl in Germany. In the clip for the TV gala, the ZDF children’s reporter Nala visits Lidl’s headquarters in Germany in Bad Wimpfen and meets Sally in the in-house restaurant, who is decorating a cake with the donation sum. Nala is enthusiastic about the delicious cake and thanks for the donation. The fundraising campaign in favor of “A Heart for Children” has been an important part of Lidl’s social commitment for many years. For example, the grocer and the “brotZeit” association have been providing schoolchildren with a balanced breakfast for twelve years, and the “Lidl fruit school” has been helping nutritionists to show elementary school children a balanced diet with fruit and vegetables in a playful way. In addition, Lidl has been fulfilling Christmas wishes nationwide for many years as part of its “wish tree campaign”.
