›Optimal education and training has been a tradition at the company’s own vocational school since 1927

Two ŠKODA AUTO apprentices received the Volkswagen Group’s Best Apprentice Award 2021 for their outstanding performance. This makes them one of the 50 best young professionals in the Group who completed their professional training last year.

Maren Gräf, ŠKODA AUTO Board Member for People and Culture, emphasizes: “ŠKODA AUTO sets standards in the training and further education of its employees. The teaching programs at our company’s own vocational school are characterized by their high quality and strong practical relevance. Optimal training is the foundation for your further professional career. Motivated and qualified young talents are the basic prerequisite for being successful as a company in the future. We are proud that Pavlína Rohlíčková and Marek Sučík, two of our trainees, are among the 50 best graduates in the world and we congratulate them both on this success. ”

Every year the Volkswagen Group honors the 50 best apprentices with the Best Apprentice Award. Outstanding professional competence and achievements are recognized. The award winners traditionally include two graduates from the ŠKODA AUTO vocational school who graduated last year and are now working for the Czech car manufacturer. This year Pavlína Rohlíčková and Marek Sučík can look forward to the award. Pavlína Rohlíčková finished her apprenticeship as an electronics technician in June 2020 and is now working as a mechanic for electronic systems at the Czech car manufacturer. Marek Sučík graduated as a cutting machine operator and now works as a fitter at the main Mladá Boleslav plant.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the award ceremony did not take place in Wolfsburg this year, as usual, but was held online on December 3rd. The two graduates of the ŠKODA vocational school received their awards at the headquarters of the KOVO trade union in Mladá Boleslav. In addition to its chairmen Jaroslav Povšík and Maren Gräf, Alois Kauer, head of the ŠKODA Academy, and Martin Slabihoudek, head of the ŠKODA AUTO vocational school, personally congratulated the winners.

Extensive investments in training and further education have a long tradition at ŠKODA AUTO. The company places a special focus on future-oriented technologies as part of its vocational training. In addition to in-company training, trainees at ŠKODA AUTO have the opportunity to complete an internship abroad at another group brand. The ŠKODA vocational school in Mladá Boleslav started operations as early as 1927 with 58 students at the time. Today, almost 900 apprentices are enrolled in 15 full-time training courses and three postgraduate courses at the ŠKODA Academy, almost 13 percent of them women.
