The Federal Association of Digital Publishers and Newspaper Publishers (BDZV) awards the Theodor Wolff Prize (TWP) again. Applicants must submit their work by January 31, 2022 at the latest. The award for outstanding German newspaper journalism honors authors who “keep the awareness of the quality and responsibility of journalistic work alive”.
One award each goes to outstanding contributions from the categories reportage and opinion, as well as to the best local play and the best local digital project; There is another prize for the theme of the year set by the jury: “Germany has the choice. How winners become losers – and vice versa”. Each prize is endowed with 6,000 euros.
Articles published in a German daily, Sunday or political weekly newspaper in 2021 as well as contributions from digital journalistic brands / portals are accepted. The jury will nominate three possible winners for each prize on April 6, the actual winners will be announced on the evening of the official award ceremony on June 22 in Berlin.
There are new members of the jury Julia Lumma, Deputy Editor-in-Chief Content Development, VRM, and Anna Petersen, Editor of the state newspaper for the Lüneburger Heide and holder of the TWP 2021. You will follow Wolfgang Büscher, Author Die Welt / Welt am Sonntag, and Stefanie Gollasch, Editor-in-chief Kieler Nachrichten, who left the committee.

We have not only strengthened our award locally, but also opened it up to digital journalistic brands, behind which there are no printed ones The TWP will be 60 years old in 2022 – and is perhaps more important than ever as proof of high-quality journalism in our country. I am very pleased that the two new jury members will accompany us on this path in the years to come, and I would like to thank the two resigned members for their great commitment. ”
In addition to Lumma and Petersen, the jury includes: Nikolaus Blome (Head of Politics RTL / ntv), Nico Fried (Head of the parliamentary editorial office of the Süddeutsche Zeitung), Christian Lindner (Chief reporter Digital Nordsee-Zeitung), Lorenz Maroldt (Editor-in-chief Der Tagesspiegel), Benjamin Skin (Editor-in-chief Mindener Tageblatt), Anja Reich (Head of Dossier Berliner Zeitung), Cordula from Wysocki (Editor-in-chief Kölnische Rundschau).
