RKI reports 45,753 new infections – the incidence drops slightly to 452.2

The Robert Koch Institute reports 45,753 new infections within 24 hours. That is 427 more cases than on Tuesday a week ago when 45,326 were reported. The seven-day incidence drops slightly to 452.2 from 452.4 the previous day. The value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have been infected with the corona virus in the past seven days. 388 other people died from the virus. This increases the number of reported deaths within one day to 101,344. In total, more than 5.83 million corona tests have so far been positive in Germany.

SPD health expert: “Measures are having an impact”

SPD health expert Lauterbach has in an interview with the night magazine said, the measures taken so far to combat the fourth corona wave have had an initial effect. At the same time, however, he made it clear that the steps taken so far would not be enough to reverse the trend. “It doesn’t work like that,” said Lauterbach. “It has to be refilled” – and that will now happen.
