It was found that the contract was negotiated for an amount of 8 million dollars (about 9.5 billion won) at the recently closed Seoul International Travel Mart, showing valuable results despite the tourism stagnation caused by Corona 19.

The Seoul Tourism Organization hosted ‘2021 Seoul International Travel Mart X Seoul Medical Tourism International Travel Mart (SITM&SITMMT 2021)’, which was held online and offline for 8 days from October 26 to November 5, with a total of 268 cases worth 8 million dollars. It was recently announced that a contract agreement was reached. A total of 637 tourism companies (278 companies from 40 overseas countries, 359 companies from Korea) participated, and a total of 1,841 online business consultations were recorded, of which 268 contracts were negotiated worth $8 million.

Participants’ satisfaction with the Travel Mart event was also high. According to the Seoul Tourism Organization, 97% of overseas participants and 90% of domestic participants showed more than ‘satisfaction’ with this event. Possibility of signing a contract in the future also showed a high response rate (96% overseas, 69% domestic) of ‘high’ or higher. It is evaluated that the Travel Mart served as a communication channel between the tourism industry in a difficult situation in the domestic and foreign tourism industry due to COVID-19.

Gyeongju Choi, Director of Tourism and Sports at Seoul Metropolitan Government, said, “Amid the unprecedented stagnation caused by the prolonged COVID-19, we have built a new network with overseas buyers and achieved very valuable results in business exchanges. We will actively support the rapid recovery of tourism demand in Seoul when travel resumes soon.”
