The Korea Tourism Organization selected six ‘reborn travel destinations (upcycling destinations)’ as recommended places to visit in December. Places that have given better value to the damaged nature and environment or have had a bad impact are those that have been reborn as eco-friendly travel destinations.

▲Seonyudo Park in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul has been transformed from an abandoned water purification plant into an eco-friendly ecological park, and ▲Mapo-gu Culture Tank is transformed into an ecological and cultural park where you can meet the culture from the old oil storage base. ▲ Samtan Art Mine, Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do is a culture and art complex where you can feel the fragrance of art blooming from an abandoned mine. ▲The Generation Empathy Creativity Playground in Buk-gu, Ulsan is a playground where children and adults can create meaning in life from a food processing plant. ▲Bunker of Light in Seogwipo, Jeju has been transformed from a fortress-like national communication facility to a palace of light and music.

The Korea Tourism Organization said, “These travel destinations do not stop at using the traces of old spaces and history as decorations. It reflects on the past that has harmed the ecological environment and talks about the future in which we must live together with nature. It is a journey in search of lost time, and a process of finding the reason for the rebirth of the coexistence of nature and humans.”
