The national cooperation between Netto Germany and the ‘Too Good To Go’ network is just six months old, and the first major milestone can already be celebrated: More than 100,000 bags of excess food have now been saved in Netto markets.

“We knew that we had a great partner with ‘Too Good To Go’ and that we could further reduce food waste. That we could sell this number of bags in our stores in such a short time and thus achieve such a good response, We are very pleased, “says Netto Germany CEO Ingo Panknin.

‘Too Good To Go’ Country Manager Laure Berment adds: “With our big partner Netto and the many markets we are reaching a large number of additional customers. In this way, we can save an even larger amount of food from being thrown away and eat it bit by bit help to gain more appreciation. ”

Every evening from around 8 p.m., the ‘Too Good To Go’ app offers bags of groceries from the Netto assortment at a price of 3.90 euros. These contain leftover foods from all areas of the market, such as dairy products, sausage products or fruit and vegetables, which vary on a daily basis. The bag is reserved and paid for using the ‘Too Good To Go’ app and can then be picked up in the respective market.

Netto has long been involved in the topic of food waste: More than 80 percent of the 342 Netto stores work regionally with various organizations such as the food banks. These cooperations are also important building blocks in the fight against the waste of valuable resources.
