The competition for the European CIVIS Media Prize has started. European productions on the topics of migration, integration, cultural diversity and – related to this – social cohesion can be submitted up to and including January 19, 2022. The CIVIS Media Prize honors outstanding program achievements on television, radio and the Internet that promote peaceful coexistence between people of different geographical and cultural origins.
The CIVIS awards are in four areas and in different Categories forgive:
– VIDEO AWARD: non-fictional programs, fictional programs and social media formats (moving images)
– AUDIO AWARD: short programs up to 6 minutes, long programs from 6 minutes and podcasts
– YOUNG C. AWARD (Film, altersbegrenzt)
– CINEMA AWARD (audience award)
The CIVIS TOP AWARD also honors the best production of the year from the AUDIO, VIDEO and YOUNG C. areas. A direct application for the CIVIS TOP AWARD is not possible.
The prizes are endowed with a total of 27,000 euros.

The CIVIS Media Prize is announced by ARD, represented by WDR, together with the Freudenberg Foundation. ORF, SRG SSR, RTV Slovenia, ARTE, 3sat, phoenix, Deutsche Welle, Deutschlandradio and EBU are media partners. The integration commissioner of the federal government, the WDR mediagroup, the producer alliance, the VFF collecting society of film and television producers and the agency of the European Union for fundamental rights (FRA) are cooperation partners.
The organization of the competition, the jury meetings and the award ceremony is the responsibility of the non-profit CIVIS Media Foundation for Integration and Cultural Diversity in Cologne.
The European CIVIS Media Prize is intended to encourage media professionals to devote themselves to the issues of migration, integration, cultural diversity and social cohesion in a creative, constructive and, where necessary, (self-) critical way.
