Generation Z Chinese and Italians scrutinized each other in an online exchange hosted by China Eastern Airlines (CEA) on November 24th.

Over 40 Zoomers and their teachers from Nankai University in China and the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Italy took part in the exchange, called CEAir On Air. Together with employees of the CEA, they exchanged their experiences with life in China and working at CEA.

The Italian captain Diego Benedetto from the CEA explained the preparations a captain has to make before a flight, told of his flight experiences in China and addressed his wishes to Gen Z.

The chief flight attendant of the CEA, Hu Anlun, who once lived and studied in Italy, gave a lecture on aircraft etiquette in the preparation room of the CEA headquarters in Shanghai. She also showed the cozy surroundings and talked about her studies in Italy.

“My job takes me on a trip around the world, and that’s the best part about it,” said Hu, adding that her job shows her the colors and splendor of the world.

Benedetto told the geneticists that his love for this job began in his childhood. He felt called to this profession when he saw photos of pilots in uniforms at home in his childhood, he told the students. The man said he was lucky to have become a pilot today.

Benedetto encouraged the Chinese and Italian students to use what they had learned as motivation for their further progress.

In the last 10 years the CEA has maintained a good cooperation with the Convitto Nazionale “Vittorio Emanuele II” (Italian boarding school) in Rome and the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies and the exchange between China and Italy in the fields of culture, art and Active support for education. The company has given new impetus to the cultural exchange between the two countries.
