Wagenknecht sees itself defamed as an opponent of vaccinations

Left politician: That is completely absurd – Sharp criticism of “indignation rituals”

Osnabrück. The left-wing member of the Bundestag Sahra Wagenknecht sees herself defamed in the discussion about corona vaccinations also by critics in her own party. Wagenknecht told the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung” (NOZ): “It’s always the same people who have been fighting me for years and are now trying to publicly defame me as an opponent of vaccinations. That is completely absurd.”

The former group leader had said on the talk show “Anne Will” that she would not be vaccinated against the coronavirus because she did not trust the vaccines that have been approved so far. As a result, a number of left-wing politicians had distanced themselves.

In essence, Wagenknecht told the NOZ, “these outrage rituals are hardly about the respective topic, but primarily about attacking me and putting myself in a bad light.” It is party position of the left that they reject compulsory vaccination and demand free tests. “I did not represent anything else.”

Wagenknecht emphasized that she had not advertised against the vaccination either. “I have opposed the fact that unvaccinated people are morally ostracized and financially blackmailed and should now be used as a scapegoat for the failures of politics.” In addition, she had expressly advised older people and risk groups to get vaccinated.

You are not skeptical about vaccination, added Wagenknecht, “but I have concerns about completely new genetic vaccines, the long-term effects of which nobody is currently aware of”. The former group leader was also convinced that the vaccination quota would be significantly increased if the best of the millions of dead vaccines used worldwide were also approved in the EU. “In addition, tests urgently need to be made free again. In sensitive areas such as nursing homes, all visitors should be tested.” Booster vaccinations are certainly useful for very old and immunocompromised people. “But before we boost half the population, we should do individual antibody tests to find out who needs it.”
