Realization “European University” with global reach | Focus on student mobility and European research projects
The establishment of “European universities” is at the center of the European Commission’s science policy. Initiated by the French President Emanuel Macron, up to 50 such top institutions are being set up in Europe, which will bundle the strengths of the European science and university location. Together with the University of Seville (Spain, management), University of Cote d’Azur (France), University of Genoa (Italy), Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences (Finland) and the Technical University of Košice (Slovakia), the MCI is a supporting pillar of the Ulysseus project funded by the European Commission.
The elaboration of common strategies and projects and the timely implementation of the first projects was the focus of the multi-day meeting at MCI | The Entrepreneurial School®. “We are proud to be part of the mainstay in the realization of this great European idea”, the project manager Prof. Siegfried Walch at the MCI expresses his joy: “In the next few years we will devote ourselves intensively to a huge European development project that will keep the European higher education area competitive in a global context ”.
“The fact that Innsbruck serves as the venue for the constituent and first personal meeting” makes me happy as mayor of the state capital Innsbruck “ agrees Mayor Georg Willi. “Now that the Maximilian year is over, it is our aim to put Innsbruck back at the center of European activity.”
“What our team is doing here again with incredible energy and high competence amazes me every day”, adds Rector Andreas Altmann. “I congratulate the team around Prof. Siegfried Walch and thank our European partners and the European Commission for their trust and excellent cooperation. Ulysseus is another milestone on our consistent path towards internationalization and global visibility ”.
In the Joint International Center (IC), which is located at the Entrepreneurial University® in Innsbruck, the focus is on the mobility of 182,000 students, 20,000 teachers and thousands of decision-makers in management and administration. The mobility program also includes an innovative green deal for climate protection, a welcome program and the introduction of a European student ID.
Research coordination ‘COMPASS’
The COMPASS project team is developing a joint strategy and specific action plans to position Ulysseus as an efficient “hub” for research and innovation.
COMPASS is a “Horizon 2020 project” and the flagship of the research and innovation agenda and strategy of Ulysseus.
