NewMotion announces that, together with its US counterpart, Greenlots in Shell Recharge Solutions is renamed. The companies are thus taking the next step on the way to an international, integrated range of charging solutions. The rebranding will be implemented at the beginning of 2022 and will combine Shell’s international range of charging solutions under one identity. This supports the company’s goal of enabling cleaner mobility – at home, at work and on the go.
“In the coming decade, the spread of e-cars around the world will increase significantly. According to estimates, at least 125 million plug-in hybrids will be on the road in 2030. Currently there are only ten million. To meet the demands of drivers during this period To meet the steep rise, we need an end-to-end approach to the charging infrastructure. By making charging easier and investing in smart technologies, we are making the widespread switch to e-cars possible and moving towards a carbon-free one World. “, Explains NewMotion CEO Melanie Lane.
“With the upcoming name change, Shell is expanding its capacities and offering of charging solutions from a regional to an international level. We are unifying our brand, our employees and our capabilities in Europe, Asia and North America, thus ensuring that we can offer our customers the charging solutions for E-cars can provide that they need, “says Roger Hunter, Vice President Shell Electric Mobility.
Shell Recharge Solutions benefits from NewMotion’s experience for home charging solutions and roaming services. Greenlots’ expertise lies in charging networks and fleet services. Together with Shell Recharge’s fast charging network, a simpler range of charging solutions for e-cars will be created. The team will continue to offer innovative solutions as they did recently the first battery storage system at a Shell petrol station, with which fast charging is possible despite low network capacity.
As Shell Recharge Solutions, the company continues to support customers with their switch to e-mobility. The company sells Shell Recharge hardware and software solutions for the home and office. Shell Recharge also offers a public charging network and white label solutions.
After the renaming, Shell Recharge Solutions will benefit from the rapid expansion of NewMotion in Europe. Compared to the previous year, the roaming network grew by 94 percent in Germany alone. In the UK, year-on-year growth is even 265 percent. Shell Recharge Solutions installs a new charging station every 20 minutes and operates over 80,000 charging points. This number is expected to grow to 500,000 by 2025. With the consolidation of its offerings under one identity, Shell Recharge Solutions can make the best use of its existing potential and drive further innovations for a faster energy transition.
In the future, Shell Recharge Solutions will build on its recent partnerships with brands such as LeasePlan, BMW and Aldi. In addition, the company recently reached a milestone: the charging network offers access to more than 250,000 public charging points in more than 35 European countries.
