A colorful promotional event for Zhejiang Province, with the demonstrations “Showcasing Quintessence of Liangzhu Civilization” and “Sound on a Trip Down Poetry Lane” organized by the Zhejiang Province People’s Government Information Office and the Zhejiang Province Ministry of Culture and Tourism, took place on the evening of October 31st at the Hangzhou Canal Culture Publishing Center.
During the event, the guests shone the illuminated jade cong pillar representing the Liangzhu civilization, solemnly opening the promotional event attended by people from all walks of life. The event consisted of two parts, the symphony “Sound on a Trip Down Poetry Lane”, which will be premiered worldwide after the event, and a performance with different contributions “Showcasing Quintessence of Liangzhu Civilization”. “Sound on a Trip Down Poetry Lane” is a new symphony by Hollywood film composer Mark Chait, who has already won an Emmy and several Telly Awards. “Searching for Beautiful Voices Along Poetry Road” is a musical work that makes the peculiarities of Zhejiang accessible to an international audience. During the event, Mark Chait conducted the symphony along with Ding Yang, a world-class pianist and key members of the Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra. Four other well-known international musicians, the Russian classical violinist Yury Revich, the American violinist Igor Pikayzen, the German cellist Benedict Kloeckner and the Japanese violist Tomoko Akasaka, also attended the symphony’s world premiere via the Internet. The flowing musical sounds that seemed to take the audience into picturesque Zhejiang touched everyone and presented Zhejiang in a dignified and soulful way.
Thirty outfits, all designed by leading Chinese fashion designers and Xiong Ying, the founder of Heaven Gaia, were presented during the large-scale fashion show “Showcasing Quintessence of Liangzhu Civilization”. Xiong selected the totems, jade artifacts and symbols typical of the Liangzhu civilization and combined them with the natural and cultural landscape south of the Yangtze River, thus offering a unique representation of the landscape of Zhejiang. Under the themes of “Liangzhu Civilization”, “Zhejiang” and “World”, the performance showed the essence of Zhejiang civilization in a modern, contemporary and internationally accessible way, so that people all over the world can better understand Zhejiang and appreciate its picturesque landscape experience the charm of ancient civilization.
