On November 26th, 2021, it’s that time again: On Black Friday 2021, retailers will be celebrating the start of the Christmas business with special promotions and special offers for 24 hours. Black Friday has long since become the most important shopping event of the year in this country too. A large number of German consumers would like to go on a bargain hunt in 2021 and even go beyond their budget for very good deals, as the Internet portal BlackFriday.de found out in a recent survey.

In cooperation with the market research company Appinio, BlackFriday.de surveyed 1,000 people aged 16 to 65 across Germany in a representative survey (quoted by age and gender) in October 2021.

The results of the survey show that Black Friday is now known to all parts of the population and that there are hardly any consumers who are unfamiliar with the day of action. 97 percent of the 1,000 respondents said they knew Black Friday.

76 percent of those surveyed are planning a purchase this year and the majority would like to switch between 100EUR and 200EUR spend (30 percent). It is noticeable that the proportion of those who more than 500EUR want to output from 8 percent in the last year * 14 percent has risen. Buyers seem to be increasingly making large purchases on Black Friday. 89 percent the buyers are even ready to go beyond their planned budget for a very good offer.

The majority of buyers are in products of the categories Technology / electronics (73 percent), Mode (47 percent) and toy (33 percent) interested. travel (16 percent), Subscriptions / contracts (10 percent) and Insurance / finance (8 percent) are rarely on the wish lists of Black Friday shoppers.

However, only very few people shop with an actual shopping list on Black Friday. Only 31 percent stated that they were only looking for special products on Black Friday. 69 percent however, would like to be inspired by the offers of the dealers and spontaneously strike at good bargains.

38 percent buyers stated that they would wait until Black Friday to buy because they would then expect the best price for themselves. The majority of 62 percent however, we are also happy to strike in the days leading up to Black Friday for advance promotions or Black Week offers.
