In September, the number of outbound Koreans increased by 51.8% to 116,615

The number of outbound Koreans recorded more than 100,000 for three consecutive months from July to September. This is the first time since January-March 2020. There is still a long way to go to the level of 2019, but it seems to be recovering little by little due to the rise in vaccination rates and the gradual resumption of overseas travel.

According to the Korea Tourism Statistics compiled by the Korea Tourism Organization in September, the number of inbound and outbound travelers both increased due to the base effect of COVID-19. The number of outbound Koreans was 116,615, up 51.8% from the same month last year, and the number of foreigners visiting Korea increased 31.8% to 89,800.

Although Korea’s entry restriction policy, reduction of air routes to China, Japan, and Europe and America, and restrictions on travel for tourism purposes continued, the number of foreign visitors to Korea also increased. The top countries were the United States with 19,227 people (+54.7%), China with 19,144 people (+25.1%), Russia with 3,077 people (+81%), Indonesia with 3,029 people (-10.8%), Japan with 1,142 people (+43.8%). ) in that order.
