Andreas Gassen, head of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV), believes that Health Minister Jens Spahn’s call for extensive third-party vaccinations against Corona is unnecessary. “This announcement is not yet covered by the data situation,” said Gassen in an interview with the WESER-KURIER (Tuesday edition). “According to the current situation, the third vaccination is not necessary for the normal population.” Gassen does not believe in the reopening of the vaccination centers either: “That makes no sense.”

Regarding the further course of the pandemic, Gassen said: “There is now a clear alternative in which everyone has to decide: vaccinate – or get sick and then hopefully recover.” – “In principle, all citizens who do not get vaccinated will probably be infected by spring in the coming months.”

Gassen’s conclusion for the contact restrictions: “With a lead time of six to eight weeks, we can reduce the mandatory, blanket restrictions.” “The acute threat like last winter and spring or the danger of overloading the health system no longer exist,” said the KBV chairman. “Even seven-day incidences of 500 – although we naturally want to prevent such high numbers – do not automatically lead to an overload of the health system.”
