The seminar Dialog with Shandong 2021 – Cooperation and exchange seminar between Germany and Shandong “began on October 28th in Jinan. Representatives from various industries from Germany and Shandong came together to discuss the dialogue between the governments, the networking of business and cooperation on projects to promote and write a new chapter in the history of friendly cooperation.
Li Ganjie, secretary of the CCP Shandong Provincial Committee, attended the seminar and took the opportunity to talk to Martin Wansleben, chief executive of the DIHK, and Ansgar Kriwet, member of the Festo sales management team. Several people gave speeches at the seminar, including: Zhou Naixiang, Deputy Secretary of the Shandong CCP Provincial Committee and Governor; Gao Yan, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT); Stephan Weil, Prime Minister of Lower Saxony; Melanie Huml, Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for European and International Affairs of the Free State of Bavaria; Frank Ruckert, Chargé d’Affaires at the German Embassy in China; and Shi Mingde, President of the Sino-German Friendship Society. At the seminar, not only were the participants introduced to the most important development strategies of Jinan, Qingdao and Shandong as part of the 14th five-year plan, but also discussions with experts and a cooperative exchange of experiences took place.
The seminar “Dialogue with Shandong 2021 – cooperation and exchange seminar between Germany and Shandong” was jointly organized by the People’s Government of Shandong Province, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the DIHK. Under the motto “Strengthening cooperation in the field of innovation and seeking industrial development”, the event comprised thematic workshops, a series of industry meetings and on-site discussions. The seminar was carried out both online and offline.
More than 50 German institutes and companies came to Shandong to take part in the event. These included more than 30 Fortune 500 companies, including Siemens, Volkswagen and Festo, but also many lesser-known industry leaders. The meetings for exchanging and connecting companies comprised four sessions: Sino-German scientific and technological innovation, manufacturing of high-end devices, energy saving in buildings and environmental protection technologies.
Several industries in Shandong Province and Germany complement each other so that there is close economic and trade exchange. Germany is Shandong Province’s largest trading partner in the European Union. From January to September 2021, Shandong Province’s total import and export trade with Germany was CNY 49.93 billion, an increase of 18.3% over the previous year.
