The World Industrial Internet Conference, hosted by the People’s Government of Qingdao City, was officially opened from October 26th to 27th, 2021. Under the motto integration and communication of digitization and intelligence, convergence of the “four new economic advantages”, experts from home and abroad as well as representatives from universities and well-known companies gathered to demonstrate the strong vitality of the development of the industrial Internet. Han Xia, chief engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ling Wen, Shandong lieutenant governor, Yang Jun, chairman of the Qingdao City Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and other leaders attended the event and gave speeches.
Initially, parallel forums were set up
On the 26th, parallel forums were held on the four directions – new technologies, new models, new business formats and new industries – on the topics of 5G, household appliances, identification resolution, digital infrastructure, security systems and audiovisual communication. In recent years, Qingdao has capitalized on the development opportunities of the industrial Internet, attracted AI teams and leading companies to invest, and formed the “four new” ecosystems with a Qingdao character.
Leading think tanks continue to contribute
The conference also brought together the best intellectual resources in the world. At the main forum, Liu Yunjie, academician of CAE, Yang Shanlin, academic of CAE, Zhou Yunjie, president of Haier, Xu Li, CEO of SenseTime, Fan Ji’an, chief scientist of China Unicom, and Fan Yuan, president of DAS- security, a keynote speech in each case. Robert Kahn, the “father of the Internet”, Dr. OS Ganiyusufoglu, acatech academician, and Ronjon Nag, professor at Stanford University, gave video talks. The first plenary session of China Industrial Internet 100 was also held to make proposals for building the world industrial Internet capital in Qingdao.
Five national research institutes, including the National Research Center for the Development of Industrial Information Security, the Chinese Academy for Industrial Internet, the Chinese Academy for Information and Communication Technology, and the Chinese Institute for Electronics Standardization, have been heavily involved in the creation of platforms, promoted the transformation, and continued to contribute to knowledge of the industrial internet.
Leading companies actively participated
Many leading companies such as Haier, Tencent, China Mobile, Sensetime and Venustech have also agreed to host a series of “industrial banquets” on the topics of security, platforms, ecology, digital economy and AI. Numerous national competitions for the industrial internet have also been launched. A number of important achievements have been published.
