So that families of seriously ill children can stay close to the little patients when they are being treated in the Schön Klinik Vogtareuth, the construction of the Ronald McDonald House on the clinic premises has now started with a groundbreaking ceremony. The excavators will start rolling in November and completion is expected in summer 2023.

The 23rd Ronald McDonald House of the McDonald’s Children’s Aid Foundation and thus the fifth parental home in Bavaria will be built on the grounds of the Schön Klinik Vogtareuth in the course of the next 18 months. Every year 450 families will find a temporary home in 20 apartments there, and their seriously ill children will be treated in the Schön Klinik Vogtareuth. The starting signal for the construction project was given with a groundbreaking ceremony in the presence of the deputy district administrator Josef Huber and the mayor of Vogtareuth, Rudolf Leitmannstetter.

“As a foundation, we have been supporting families with seriously ill children for 34 years and experience every day that close family helps. Up to four people can live in the future apartments, so that siblings can be close to the sick child in addition to the parents. Families can also exchange ideas there with other affected people and are part of a strong community, “says Adrian Köstler, CEO of McDonald’s Kinderhilfe. The parents’ house will have a large and bright communal area that allows for exchange. The full-time team, with the support of volunteer colleagues, ensures that the families find a place of well-being that offers a balance to the stressful everyday clinical routine.

With its multiple award-winning medical services, the Schön Klinik Vogtareuth is one of the most important hospitals in Bavaria for the care of children with severe neurological and orthopedic illnesses. Patients from all over Germany are treated there. “Well-rested parents can participate better in the treatment process and thus have a positive influence on the recovery process of the little patients. The fact that the whole family can be there is also very positive, as the parents are often torn between the responsibility for the sick child and the care of siblings.” , says Prof. Dr. med. Martin Staudt, chief physician at the specialist center for pediatric neurology, neuro-rehabilitation and epileptology. Managing director Sven Schönfeld also welcomes the offer: “The Schön Klinik Vogtareuth, whose little patients often have to travel long distances with their families, sensibly complements their medical offerings with their parents, the Vogtareuth location is clearly strengthened.”

This is also confirmed by the deputy district administrator Josef Huber and confirms: “The Ronald McDonald House is an asset for the entire Rosenheim district and enriches the region. Mayor Rudolf Leitmannstetter gives the house his best wishes so that the construction of the parental home can now progress quickly “I hope that in the future the siblings and parents can live in the Ronald McDonald House and thus all become part of our beautiful community.”

The McDonald’s Children’s Aid Foundation, which is mainly financed by donations, would like a strong network of supporters in the region for their project. There are many ways to help: from financial support through donations to active participation in the volunteer team to campaigns for families, the foundation welcomes everyone who wants to do good in a group of committed people.
