China’s premier Internet of Things (IoT) event, the 2021 World IoT Expo, took place on Saturday in Wuxi, east China’s Jiangsu Province.

The event, which showcases the latest IoT applications and technologies, this year includes a main summit held in the city of Wuxi, an exhibition on IoT applications and products, an award ceremony, several sub-forums and similar activities.

Leading representatives of the global IoT industry came together in Wuxi to discuss cutting-edge technologies, areas of application and future trends in the industry and to support Wuxi in improving and optimizing the industry environment to exploit the synergy of the IoT industry in China and even global innovation and Promote development.

As a new type of information infrastructure, the Internet of Things has become an important engine for digital transformation, intelligent modernization and the integration of the manufacturing industry.

Wang Zhijun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said in his speech that China will further strengthen innovation, expand cooperation, better promote the real economy and improve people’s living conditions.

Known as the IoT City, Wuxi currently has more than 3,000 IoT-related companies with a production value of over 300 billion yuan, and it is at the forefront of formulating more than half of the international IoT standards.

The city has conducted 23 large national application demonstration projects, with IoT project coverage spanning more than 830 cities in 78 countries and regions around the world.

Twenty projects were signed during the fair, covering areas such as Artificial Intelligence and IoT, which will further advance the transformation and modernization of industry in Wuxi, as well as the development of strategic new industries.

In addition, the China Internet of Things Industry Development Annual Report 2020-2021 prepared by the China Economic Information Service was published during the summit. According to the report, China’s IoT industry will spark a new engine for digital development and a new era of intelligent innovation with joint efforts of the national strategy, Industrial policy and industry professionals.
