The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Tourism Organization started selling 70,000 Seoul Tourism Discount Passes from October 18, and they were all exhausted on October 22 thanks to the abundant benefits and expectations for a gradual recovery of daily life.
The Seoul Tourist Discount Pass was designed by participating in 121 unique tourist facilities, experiences and services in Seoul at up to 50% discount or more. All 60,000 copies were sold on the website within three days of release, and 10,000 copies were sold out on the 22nd, the day of issue in the Seoul Citizen Card app.
In two days after the pass was released, reservations for over 600 products were completed, and about 20 million won was paid. Changgyeonggung Palace and Deoksugung Palace night view tour (50% discount) and Han River yacht tour product (50% discount) were each booked more than 100 within two days of launch. “This is the first time that so many reservations have been made since Corona,” said Lee Yong-gyu, CEO of Korea Bicycle Ora.
Meanwhile, the Tourism Foundation plans to increase the pass use rate by providing special coupons and review events for pass downloaders, and to support the promotion of tourism and experience affiliated facilities in line with the gradual transition to daily life. Park Jin-hyeok, head of the tourism service team at the Seoul Tourism Organization, said, “We will come up with additional measures to revive Seoul tourism in the future.”
