With a view to the ongoing coalition negotiations between the SPD, Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and FDP, the KZBV is making based on its Oral Health Agenda 2021-2025 Proposals for the future-proof design of high-quality dental care close to home. From the perspective of contract dentists, there is a need for political action, in particular on the three subject areas:

  • Prevention and care for vulnerable groups
  • Digitization and relief of the dental practices from bureaucracy
  • Curbing the commercialization of supply with the aim of maintaining equal living conditions in town and country

Dr. Wolfgang Eßer, Chairman of the Executive Board of the KZBV: “The successes in dental prevention are exemplary for the care. We want to continue on this path to success. At the same time, we pay special attention to ensuring care, especially in rural, structurally weak areas Place of residence and social status to have access to dental care and participation in medical advances. ”

Eßer welcomed the fact that the SPD, Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and FDP have already stated in their exploratory paper to make prevention and precautionary health policy the guiding principle of their government work and to ensure good, reliable health care throughout Germany. “We also see the clear statement on the preservation of the dual system of statutory and private health insurance as a positive message. Now it will depend on the specific content and measures with which these targets are filled in the coalition negotiations. To this end, we bring our positions and proposals” said Eßer.

Freelance work and self-management are the strengths of our healthcare system. Maintaining and strengthening these should be the guideline for political action. In addition, the successes in dental prevention and the provision of care for vulnerable groups must be stabilized and expanded. With a view to the advancing digitization, the practices needed a stable, trouble-free and secure telematics infrastructure with supply-oriented solutions. The costs for the digital transformation process of the practices have to be refinanced.

The promotion of business establishments for freelance dentists is of central importance for patient care. On the other hand, the KZBV sees the increasing commercialization through the spread of investor-supported medical care centers as a danger to equal living conditions and patient care close to home: “The new government must tackle this problem! The previous regulations are insufficient and urgently need to be further developed. In addition, more transparency is required and patient protection a legal basis for the establishment of MVZ registers at federal and state level. ”
