The Asian river cruise operator Pandaw – a fixture in the product portfolio of several German specialist tour operators – is insolvent. The shipping company cites the corona pandemic, which led to the closure of the shipping areas Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and India, as well as the difficult political situation in the wider destination area of Myanmar as reasons. The effects of the pandemic and the unsuccessful search for an investor left the company with no choice but to shut down the business, a press release said.
Accordingly, the advance bookings for the 2022 season were good until the end, but the costs for resuming ship operations could not be financially supported. Pandaw has operated 17 boutique ships to date. The company was founded in 1995 and its roots go back to 1865.
