The travel agency association VUSR confirmed the board in office at its general meeting in Iserlohn. That means that the chairwoman Marija Linnhoff and her deputy Cyrus Nurischad from the travel agency Ambientetours in Rennerod will remain in office for another three years. The treasurer Christoph Hering was also confirmed.
Around 200 participants attended the conference. Linnhoff was relieved after the election: “The choice was more important than ever for sales.” She and her colleague Nurischad thanked them for the trust that was placed in them again.
In addition, some resolutions were made. The money raised for affected travel agencies in the flood region will be divided by four. That means: The sum of around 17,000 euros will be distributed to four travel agencies in the Ahr region. In addition, an increase in the membership fee for VUSR members was approved. The annual fee increases to 60 euros.
The topics discussed included the future federal government and the coalition negotiations. The association had heard from political circles that various topics were currently being discussed in 22 working groups. Tourism does not exist as a topic in any of these working groups. This shows once again the poor state of the industry within federal politics.
In addition, the subject of agency contracts is to be addressed in the future. “It cannot be that travel agencies continue to do a huge amount of unpaid overtime. In addition, the commissions have stagnated at ten percent for years, ”complains VUSR boss Linnhoff in an interview with touristik aktuell. The subject of discounts for travel services should also be legally checked again.
