The game app InvestNuts won this year’s German children’s software award TOMMI. In the “Education” category, the game by the Robo Advisor VisualVest was able to convince both the specialist and children’s jury and achieved first place.
InvestNuts is a game for teaching basic finance and investment knowledge. Players take on the role of a squirrel with the aim of finding enough nuts for the cold winter months and retirement. The players’ job is to collect nuts and plant them back wisely for the best possible yield. By planting and harvesting the nuts, players learn the relationship between risk and return.
The German children’s software award TOMMI was awarded for the 20th time live on the ARD and ZDF children’s channel on October 24, 2021. 57 digital games and educational offers for children in six different categories were nominated. As a first step, an expert jury made up of journalists, educators and scientists selected the nominations. More than 1,600 children then evaluated the nominations and selected the winners in the categories of education, apps, console games, PC games, electronic toys and kindergarten / preschool.
“We are very pleased that we have won the TOMMI with InvestNuts. Young people in particular find it difficult to deal with the topic of money. With our game app, we give children and young people playful access to the world of finance. In games they can Try out different strategies and learn how investing in the capital market works, “says Dr. Olaf Zeitnitz, founder and managing director of VisualVest.
The game app InvestNuts is available for Android and iOS as a free download in the app stores and has already been downloaded around 10,000 times.
