The 68th Assembly of Delegates of the German Fire Brigade Association (DFV) will take place on Saturday, November 13, 2021, from 11 a.m. as a digital meeting. The delegates also choose two positions on the DFV Presidium. Changes to the statutes are also on the agenda. As part of the meeting there will be a keynote speech by political scientist Dr. Florian Hartleb. His research interests are populism, political parties, right-wing extremism and political leadership. Since October 2020 he has been an external expert member of the inquiry commission set up by the Lower Saxony state parliament “Improving framework conditions for voluntary work”.

Elections in the DFV Presidium

The DFV Presidium consists of the president, up to four vice-presidents as representatives of the state fire brigade associations, one vice president each as a representative of the federal groups (professional fire brigade and plant fire brigade) and the federal youth leader as vice-president and representative of the youth fire brigades. Two positions are to be chosen by the delegates:

  • A vice-president as a representative of the state fire brigade associations. Sascha Guzy (Berlin), Birgit Kill (North Rhine-Westphalia) and Lars Oschmann (Thuringia) have been suggested for this.
  • A Vice President as a representative of the Federal Professional Fire Brigade. Karl-Heinz Frank (BF Frankfurt am Main) has been suggested for this.

The performances of Sascha Guzy, Birgit Kill and Lars Oschmann are below www.feuerwehrverband.de/aktuelles available for download. Information on the tasks and composition of the DFV bodies is available online at www.feuerwehrverband.de/dfv/rechtsordnung/.

Amendment of the statutes

As part of the upcoming amendment to the statutes, the association intends to commit itself to the free, democratic basic order in its legal system and to oppose racist, anti-constitutional, xenophobic and discriminatory efforts. The possibility of committee meetings without being present at the meeting place and the exercise of voting rights by means of electronic communication should also be stipulated.

The German Fire Brigade Association thanks Daimler AG and Telekom Deutschland GmbH for their kind support.

Note to the press: We ask for accreditation for the digital assembly of delegates by Tuesday, November 9th, 4 p.m., by email to [email protected]
