Cannabis liberalization could now also be imminent in Germany. Because the SPD, Greens and FDP are calling for the extensive legalization of cannabis use in their election programs. Proponents of cannabis clearance are now hoping for a swift legislative initiative. The opponents continue to reject this, fear that the dangers of drug use will be played down and that drug crime will increase.

Is cannabis liberalization imminent in Germany, like in the Netherlands, Portugal and parts of the USA? Does legal cannabis sales lead to more or less cannabis use, especially among young people? Will legalization take the pressure off the courts and the police? Or does cannabis legalization threaten an increase in drug crime?

This will be discussed on Tuesday, October 26th at 8:15 p.m. on rbb television, among others:

  • Andreas Müller, Juvenile judge from Bernau and cannabis legalization activist
  • Renate Künast (Bü90 / Greens), member of the Bundestag
  • Sabine Schumann, Deputy Federal Chairman of the German Police Union, CDU member
  • Sabine Hinze, Parents’ groups Berlin-Brandenburg, self-help for relatives of addicts
  • Maria Krause, German Hemp Association
  • Robin Hofmann, Maastricht University criminologist
  • Prof. Rainer Thomasius, Child and adolescent psychiatrist, University Clinic Hamburg Eppendorf
