▷ On the future of the media – the WDR at the Munich Media Days

At the largest media conference in Europe, which will take place in Munich from October 25th to 29th, the WDR will be represented in many ways: Program director Valerie Weber will speak about the future of radio at the Munich Media Days. Georgine Kellermann, head of the WDR studio in Essen, discusses the visibility of transgender and queerness in the German media. The WDR Innovation Hub is on site with three future topics. And Tom Buhrow, as ARD chairman, gives an interview on the ARD future dialogue.

Christina Schamp from the WDR Innovation Hub starts with the lecture round ‘What’s New – Ideas for the audio world of the future. ‘ In a live demo, she lets the synthetic voice of WDR 2 presenter Steffi Neu Sportschau messages speak and then passes it on to cooperation partner Julian Rudolph from Microsoft Germany, who explains the technology behind the audio prototype.

Lisa Zauner, project manager of the WDR Innovation Hub and member of the network of ARD speakers: inside for digital topics, discussed with Manuela Baldauf, head of digital development and social media at Bayerischer Rundfunk and Vanessa Wormer, head of the SWR X Lab at the panel ‘Between lab and change: innovation work in public broadcasting ” about how the innovation work takes place in the different units of the ARD and how innovative thinking can be anchored and where it cracks every now and then.

Valerie Weber, WDR program director NRW, knowledge and culture speaks in ‘Can the linear still be saved? ‘ about the audio trends of the next ten years and what future ideas for the linear mass medium radio can be derived from them.

At the beginning of the panel ‘Mindset versus demographics: what will determine tomorrow’s target group? ‘ Vanessa Beule from the WDR Innovation Hub presents the current future report on ‘Generation Alpha’ for the first time and then discusses with the model Günther Krabbenhöft and Tobias Schiwek, CEO of ‘We Are Era’, whether old age is still going on in an increasingly diverse society is a reasonable parameter.

Georgine Kellermann, director of the WDR studio in Essen, meets actors: in Oska Melina Borcherding and presenter Boussa Thiam and speaks to them in ‘Trans * media: The visibility of transgender and queerness in the German media ” about what can be done to improve the representation of trans * and queer people in front of and behind the camera.
