The dramatic increase in energy prices has caused concern across Europe. Critics say that Gazprom is not increasing its delivery volumes despite increased demand. That may be true, but it is also a fact that the Russians have so far fulfilled everything that has been contractually agreed. The Russians would certainly like to deliver more, because after all they want to make money and not just sit on their gas. But there is a dispute. First with the USA, now also with the EU and Germany. It’s about the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which can pump 55 billion cubic meters of Russian natural gas to Germany every year. It is ready, but is not allowed to deliver because the Federal Network Agency does not have an operating permit. Isn’t it understandable that the Russians make approval a condition for larger delivery quantities?
