Huawei unveils plans to strengthen the ecosystem’s financial services offering at the Huawei Developer Conference 2021
Huawei announced today on its annual Huawei Developer Conference 2021 (HDC 2021) announces plans to continue driving innovation in the financial services industry by exploring open banking capabilities with AppGallery partners. Industry experts and Huawei experts announced that AppGallery will see a further boost in the direction of innovation, with user safety at the forefront.
“We’re excited to announce our plans for AppGallery in the financial services space,” said Siri G. Børsum, global vice president of vertical financial development and partnerships for Huawei’s Consumer Business Group. “After an exciting couple of months, we’ve seen the potential of partnerships for innovation and growth, and we can’t wait to see more FinTechs ready to make waves in the industry.”
Can Open Banking Promote Financial Health?
AppGallery has set itself the task of providing its 730 million users worldwide with a selection of the latest banking and payment apps and uses new technologies to support its partners.
Noffe recently joined the AppGallery and uses Open Banking to offer a service that helps children in Norway learn savings habits. Bluecode offers its customers in Europe a convenient payment solution with QR codes via the NFC functions of AppGallery.
Huawei continues to be committed to promoting global financial health – which can be achieved through partnerships with fintechs. For consumers, Huawei showed how users can leverage open banking to have more control over their finances.
Together with its partners, the AppGallery promotes innovation
With Brett King, author of The Rise of Technosocialism and host of the No. 1 FinTech podcast Breaking Banks, Siri G. Børsum spoke about the recent changes in consumer behavior, which have led to a higher demand for convenience. With banking app usage set to grow 45% in 2020, the two pointed to the potential for developers.
“We see so much potential for innovation when we look at the changing landscape in the financial services industry,” said Brett King. “If you look at the largest financial institutions around the world, they are usually organizations that focus on digitization.”
With the AppGallery, Huawei plans to spur innovation to help FinTech developers realize their business development potential while advocating for financial health.
Børsum explained Huawei’s comprehensive security and protection system, which includes verification of the developer’s real name, a four-stage verification process, additional download and installation protection and a prevention mechanism for the secure operation of apps.
