The Hargassner group of companies ‘Emission Reduction in Modern Biomass Heating Systems’ wins the highest state award in the environmental technology sector
With the project‘Emission reduction in modern biomass heating’ The Hargassner group was able to prevail over other well-known Austrian companies and wins – unanimously determined by the expert jury – the highest state award in the environmental technology sector.
On October 20, 2021, the State Prize was awarded by Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler and the ‘Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology’. This prize is only awarded every three years. The award is given to companies or personalities who have understood how to make outstanding contributions to climate and environmental protection in the face of global challenges. The Hargassner Group wins for the complete product range of pellet, wood chip and log heating systems, in the power range from 9 to 330 kW, in the ‘Environment and Climate’ category.
“It makes us proud to be able to continue and expand the company we took over from our parents. The love for biomass and our affinity for technology were practically born in our cradle. We work passionately every day on the subject of biomass heating and its further development, as well as on We strive to achieve the best for our employees, our company, our customers and everyone who works with us. A price like this shows that all the effort is worth it, every day to continue all over again “, say the two managing directors Anton and Markus Hargassner.
Together with partners such as the Technical University in Graz or the TÜV in Munich, intensive research has been carried out in recent years on the further development and simultaneous improvement of Hargassner biomass heating systems. With the pellet and wood chip heating systems, the shape of the combustion chamber, the ember bed height and the air flow have been optimized. A stainless steel condensation heat exchanger was installed in the pellet area and an electrostatic filter was installed downstream of the heat exchanger in the wood chip areaEfficiency increased by 5-10% and on the other hand theFine dust particles to a minimumreduced. All of the measures taken are extremely important for the ‘Get out of oil and gas’ campaign and the associated achievement of our common climate goals.
Up to 140,000 Hargassner biomass heating systems have been sold worldwide to date. They will be followed by more than 15,000 more in 2021. With the production expansion of over 18,000 m2, Hargassner will even be able to double the number of items.
Another positive side effect is securing the existing ones Jobs in the region as well as creating up to 200 new ‘green jobs’ at the Weng site. In this way, Hargassner is not only expanding itself, but also Austria’s top position in the field of renewable heating technology.
