The long-standing Verdi boss Frank Bsirske and the Rhineland-Palatinate district administrator Günther Schartz (CDU) have left the supervisory board of the Essen energy company RWE. The company confirmed this to the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung (WAZ, Friday edition). This means that there is currently a vacancy on the company’s control body, explained RWE. The judicial appointment of a successor to Schartz is “applied for and will take place promptly”. Schartz was criticized for additional income from his work on the supervisory board of the energy supplier.

The former Verdi boss Bsirske belongs to the new Bundestag as a member of the Green parliamentary group. As deputy chairman of the supervisory board of RWE, Bsirske was involved in many important decisions of the Essen group over the years. Ralf Sikorski from the IGBCE union will now be the vice-chairman of the supervisory board, as RWE informed the WAZ. Bsirske’s successor on the employee side on the RWE supervisory board is Dagmar Paasch, head of the supply and disposal department at Verdi in North Rhine-Westphalia.
